ATWL - Round 3: Burscough

Not heard the rest of this week's tales of woe, thanks to a sun-in-the-face induced migraine which had me high-tailing it off home to a darkened-room- but we weren't last for the first time this series; which has to be a good thing. In particular, mega thumbs-up to Tattoo John for second in his section and another one for Phil Clegg with his 6 points; a good finish for his first ever team match.

The pegging resulted in some stretched-out sections - including one on Gorst Lane which had had loads of anglers fishing it earlier in the week. Despite the many and varied flyers this match threw up - true to form, I ended up on the desolation peg at the end of the boats at the Slipway - the third time in three years, so I'm nothing if not consistent.

Five fish in the first twenty minutes were followed by over four hours of, well, nothing really. I tried everything in my bag to get a bite - without so much as a twitch. With five minutes to go, I was breaking down my top kits and wouldn't you know it, a little billy took the bait and I had a grand total of six fish - it's enough to make you spit...

Parbold next week and after today's disaster, I've now got a fortnight off. Good luck to the team - draw is at the Waterfront in Appley Bridge.
