Green carpet at Green's Carpets...
Slightly better result than last week - still finished last, but not by as many. A few better returns but still too many tail-end charlies.
My match was pretty bleak really. I was 3 yards from the end of the old Crooke lock, which isn't known as a good un. I had Chris Birchall on my left (nursing a King St headache) and we both struggled. I caught sporadically on punch for the first hour with a couple of perch on caster thrown in. No bonus fish, with the biggest in my net going to 3oz. The bites dried up after an hour and afterwards I caught the odd one here & there by going round my swims (often very quickly). I finished up with 1-11-9 for 7pts; 4 less than last week so that's summat optimistic at any rate.
I'm glad I wasn't up by the flats - there was a green carpet at Green's Carpets - hows that for irony?? The high bank has been covered in some green stuff (presumably to kill-off the brambles) which left a pretty barren bank to look at. Someone had decided to have a fireworks display on the bank too - judging by the empty cases all over the shop.
Back to the Slipway next Sunday for another proper breakfast - I might actually get one next week...
