S&DAA Open Match

29 anglers fished - and it was won by Paul Clayton on the end peg 30. Second was Phil Clegg on the next peg. Dunno who was third, but Colin Cliffe won my section with 9lb-summat. Not many people caught after that apart from Graham 'my taxi' Johnson, who did me by 6oz. He had 6lb 6oz and you can figure the rest out. He got his section (and reminded me several times on the way home). I beat either side of me (apparently quite easily) and could've quite possibly framed if I'd landed the pike which led me a merry dance for 5-10 minutes. It was BIG - that's all I know.

Call me a cynic if you like, but I just got the feeling there was a bit of needless pumping going on yesterday. The water level was dropped over a foot during the match and the rate varied several times. It must've been one helluva coincidence that the pumps stopped bang-on the all-out. The sad thing is, it's not the first time it's happened and probably won't be the last.

Speaking of the journey home (I did - up there a bit earlier), we went wandering down the Three Pools 'cos Graham didn't know his way round there. We went to all the road bridges and there were people fishing and plenty of fish coming out. Plant life is flourishing and there are plenty of pegs which have seen anglers very recently. Unlike the aftermath of the pollution incident when all signs of fish disappeared, there were fry everywhere we looked and some larger fish moving around in the margins. There was also signs of predators, which is definitely a good sign. There must be fish if others are chasing them...

Might have a little do on there later in the week as I'm owed a day off from work.
