Rufford Canal & keepnets in close season...

I dipped into the Maggotdrowners forum last night for a bit of a catch-up on whats been going on (not having been on for a few months). To my surprise (and amusement), there was a link on one of the threads back to this blog!!

I went on again this morning for another quick scan, and there are some odd comments being made about the keepnet policy on the Rufford Canal as a result of MDers following the link and seeing my keepnet being used.

I asked a committee member about this two months ago and he came back from the very next committee meeting and confirmed there is NO KEEPNET BAN ON THE RUFFORD CANAL IN THE CLOSE SEASON. The committee have never imposed one and British Waterways have never enforced one. There is a reference to a close season ban on the official SDAA website - from the information I have first-hand from the committee, the website is wrong.

EDIT:

The nice webmaster-type person over at SDAA has put an announcement up on the home page of their site, clarifying the situation regarding keepnets on the canal - alls well, etc...
