I looked at the write-up for the last round before starting this entry and thought to myself "pride comes before a fall". It could've been scripted - but not quite this ironically.
I haven't seen any results to confirm this yet, but the concensus around the table was that if we fished round the clock for the next three months we couldn't catch BAS now. It was, by all accounts a horror story in every section. I had six fish from eight bites. I also had a migraine, which left my seeing a lovely grey-coloured kaleidoscope thingy in my left eye, and since arriving home I've been sick three times. The thing is though, when you're on your peg, there's not much else you can do but see it out.
Picky was quick off the mark at the start of the match next to me - he'd landed a skimmer around a pound and a half while I was still cupping in. A couple more fish in the next few put-ins had him well set - finishing with 3 well-earned points. It was little wonder really, the peg's previous occupant came back to retrieve his camping chair from the ditch behind Picky and casually mentioned that it was pre-baited for a carping session on the previous day. It was a big pity he didn't take home his 12 empty Carlsberg cans that he'd slung behind him; these are the people we are constantly having to make up for.
All we need now is for Graham to have fallen in at Sollom and bust his other foot and our weekend will be complete.
Beam me up Scotty - I really am off to lie-down in a darkened room..
I'll update with some results when I get an email off the very poorly Mr. Smith.

gettin' 'Porky-ed' off the next peg is enough to drive a man to golf, but as the song says, 'thiiiiiings can only get better....' or maybe 'the only way is up...baby' :-)
