2010 W&DAA Ted Carter Spring League R5 - Gorst Lane

Final round of the league and it proved to be decisive for Sams Tackle, as they consolidated the lead from R4 and claimed the Graham Edgerley Memorial Shield for 2010.

Overall top spot for the individual was decided purely on points, so it was shared between Colin Cliffe, Steve Gallop and Rob (Captain Strap-on) Porter.

Individual on the day with an astounding weight of 34-5-0 was our team-mate (and all-round smiley bloke) Paul Porter, who was third peg from the bridge at the Piggery.  There was apparently more fish than water in front of Paul and he claimed to have lost a lot of fish which were foul-hooked.  The main quarry were bream with big skimmers in there too.  Second on the day was Ant Marsden on the next peg to Paul with 10-13-0.  Third on the day was Colin Cliffe from between Great Score bridge (sawmill) and the bungalow with 10-4-4.

My match was another 'blink & you'll miss it' affair - another three bites and an aeon of nothingness (that's a bloody long time sat moaning at Lawrence to those who don't know what an aeon is - ie. Captains Strap-on & Cock, the Adder and a few others...)  Lawrence fell asleep twice, such was the tedium in our section.  I didn't even have the will to take the rip out of Jimmy when he came to see me; it was a poor-do and no mistake.    Round the bend by the log, the section was won by Steve Barrett from SDAA - well done Steve, you'll have to pack this team fishing in more often mate!!

Despite all that, our mob did OK on the day and managed to pick-up a few quid, so all wasn't completely lost.  Porky tried his best to let BAS Red catch up with BAS Black and we nearly did it too - just five points separating us in the final standings.

Back to the Rufford Canal next Sunday for the remaining SDAA flyers before the start of the summer league on the sluice - I wonder how many cars we can get on that nice big car park...

It was all skimmers and bream Kerwin. That length by the piggery is known for them.
