Apparently, the blog was missed while it was away. Dunno why, 'cos I haven't touched any fishing tackle since December 15th and there's no sign of that changing in the near future.
The reason for that isn't angling-related, but it is one that's made me realise what the real priorities in life are. As some people now know, my wife was in hospital with pneumonia for 12 days from Christmas morning. Even now she needs nursing at home, so my role is one of keeping the house & family running contently while she gets better. There were plenty of horrors related to my wife's stay in hospital. I won't bore people with them on here, or risk trivialising them - the main thing is, she's home and slowly making a recovery. All I will say is that if it's as bad as that now, I genuinely fear for people who can't avoid hospitalisation once these dickheads in the Government start hacking the NHS still further.
Liverpool & DAA are planning to run an Angling Times Winter League later in the year. Their Taskers Top Teams league started last week and Jimmy 'Envelope Man' Jeffers carried on where he left off last year by winning the first match from the basin at Brewery Lane; some things never change...
There's certainly been plenty of rumours and gossip flying about while the ice has been slowly thawing. I'd apparently 'bottled it' when I didn't show up for the last Winter League match at the Slipway the other week. Well if bottling it translates as looking after my sick wife and my family, then yes I did. Walls have ears - some people should've already learned that one by now.
Minor rant over - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
I might be back on the bank in time for Easter - watch this space...
