Fish Kill - Three Pools; the true extent of the pollution reveals itself

Myself & Wrighty were down at Water Lane this morning and it was a very, very sad sight that met us. No signs of life in the water now - just dead fish everywhere. Specimen tench, bream, roach, rudd, perch, pike - all the species have been affected.

On the slipway was another massively depressing sight - an eel of over 2lb trying desperately to get out of the water. the poor thing was obviously near the end and had its head out of the water, but couldn't summon enough energy to escape. If eels are doing that, there really isn't much hope of anything surviving.

We went back up to Moss Lane and walked down to the willow tree and it was the same story there. The smell was disgusting; a nasty mix of alehouse toilet and fishmonger's scraps bin. There was a horrible film on the water with lumps of facaes floating everywhere - so much for the pumps being used to get rid of the pollution and dead fish.

We might as well face up to the fact that the Three Pools is effectively a barren waterway for the foreseeable future. No doubt the lawyers will now step in and rack-up some impressive bills for their clients. In the meantime, this fantastic stretch of water has been destroyed - AGAIN.
